The Mt. Hermon Ruritan Club invited Mrs. Sandra Givens to be their guest speaker. The club also recognized our basketball coaches and made donations to the softball and baseball teams. MHS appreciates the support from the Ruritan Club and the Mt. Hermon community.

MHS students in grades 6th – 12th were educated by the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Department, in partnership with the HOPE House, a Children’s Advocacy Center, on the risks and dangers involved in cyber bullying and sexting.  A special thank you to Sheriff Randy Seal, Lieutenant Brent Goings, Detective Cody Glynn, and Ms. Jessica Fuselier of the HOPE house for the informative presentation.

Village Virtual Stellar Student

"Santana-Lin is a sophomore at Mt. Hermon School in Mt. Hermon, Louisiana, who loves learning a foreign language.  Completing her Spanish I course in record time, this Village Virtual Stellar Student will complete Spanish II this spring and free up her schedule for other electives next year.

Her online teacher, Elizabeth Wilkins, says that Santana-Lin “is always moving forward with great self-initiative” and “opens and closes all communications with great manners and genuine friendliness.”  Santana-Lin says that a key to successful online learning is the old-fashioned skill of taking notes.  Online students “need to write down everything no matter what, to make sure they can study and have the words they are learning in front of them.”

Great advice from this young Louisiana scholar.  Thanks to Mt. Hermon Lab Facilitator Barbara Kerbow for her support for this student and congratulations, Santana-Lin, on being selected this month’s Stellar Student!"
